Who this policy covers

This policy describes the Vibe CAD local Codex plugin, the website at vibe-cad.com, and information you choose to send to Vibe CAD for support. Vibe CAD is maintained by Monica Graham. Its source and issue tracker are available at github.com/grahamonica/vibe-cad.

CAD data and local storage

The bundled CAD engine processes your models locally. The plugin stores documents, sketches, dimensions, features, assemblies, drawings, imported files, materials, revisions and edit history on your computer. Documents include names, local document identifiers and creation or modification times. Exports are also written locally.

Documents normally live in ~/.vibe-cad/documents, or in a location configured for your installation. Workspace mode can keep projects in your workspace. The embedded editor also uses local browser storage for display preferences.

Vibe CAD's publisher does not receive these local files automatically. Your own cloud backup, synced folder, Git remote, sharing action or host application may transfer data you choose to place there.

AI assistance and your host application

Local CAD computation does not mean AI inference runs locally. Codex or another compatible host handles your prompts and the plugin's tool calls. Depending on the action, tool results and editor context can include document names and identifiers, dimensions, geometry summaries, selected faces or edges, revisions, file paths, error messages, generated images and exported file contents. The host also receives model data needed to display the embedded editor.

This information supports the editing or inspection you request. The plugin does not send it separately to the Vibe CAD publisher. OpenAI or another host provider handles host-side processing, retention and account settings under its own terms and privacy policy. Review your host's settings before using confidential or personal information with AI assistance.

Optional third-party downloads

If you request an import from a public vendor CAD URL, the plugin downloads the file directly from that address and any permitted redirects. The destination receives a normal HTTPS request, including your network IP address, the requested URL and a Vibe CAD user-agent. The downloader does not add account credentials or upload your existing CAD model. The vendor's own privacy practices apply.

Opening external links, sharing exports, or publishing a workspace through other tools is governed by those services and the actions you authorize.

Plugin telemetry

The bundled plugin has no Vibe CAD analytics endpoint, account login, tracking cookie or per-user telemetry identifier. It does not report installs, activity, prompts, filenames or CAD contents to the publisher. OpenAI or the directory provider may collect its own product usage information; that is separate from the plugin's local code and is governed by the provider's policies.

Website visits

Visiting vibe-cad.com contacts our hosting provider. Hosting and security systems may process ordinary request information such as IP address, requested path, time, browser information and error logs to deliver pages, maintain security and troubleshoot service problems. Local plugin CAD work does not require a request to this website.

The privacy-policy page contains no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, third-party fonts or upload form. Website hosting logs are distinct from the CAD documents on your computer.

Support and information you share

If you contact the maintainer, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your contact details, issue description, screenshots or diagnostic output. We use that information to answer your request and diagnose the issue. Support information may be handled by the communication or issue-tracking provider you use.

GitHub issues are public. Do not post private CAD, credentials or personal information there. You can report a problem with a minimal example instead. Vibe CAD does not sell local CAD data or send it to advertising services.

Your controls and retention

You control local files, exports and backups. Uninstalling the plugin may leave saved documents behind. To remove them, delete the relevant local documents and exports, and any copies you made in backups, synced folders or repositories. Clear the embedded editor's local browser storage to remove its display preferences.

Host conversations, vendor request records, hosting logs and support messages have separate storage and retention practices. Deleting a local CAD file does not delete those copies. For information held by a third-party provider, use that provider's account controls or contact it directly.

Questions and updates

For privacy questions or a request about information you supplied to the maintainer, contact the maintainer through the Vibe CAD issue tracker without including sensitive information in a public post. We may update this policy as the product changes and will show the new effective date here.
